Cast Acrylic Sheets

Cast acrylic is an ideal choice for acrylic CO2 laser engraving machine. As cast acrylic turns frosty white color after engraved. Cast acrylic can be also used for CO2 laser cutting machine, however, it will not obtain a flame-polished edges. Thus, it really depends on your need and want.

Extruded Acrylic Sheets

Extruded acrylic is the best choice when we performed acrylic CO2 laser cuttting machine. Extruded acrylic is formed through a higher-volume manufacturing technique, it is less expensive than cast acrylic, and it reacts differently with the laser beam. Extruded acrylic will obtain a clear and smooth cut. The cutting edge will obtain a flame-polished after the CO2 acrylic laser cut. Q1. Acrylic CO2 Cutter Machine or CNC machine is better for acrylic cutting?

A: CNC is mainly suggested when performing engraving, such as text or patterns, and usually produces products that are not carved through. Acrylic CO2 Laser Cutting Machine is used to carry out cutting procedures, the purpose is to cut through the materials.

If it is a penetrating cutting, the speed of the laser cutting machine is faster than that of the CNC, and the laser cutting machine is mostly used for more complex cutting. 

The high precision laser cutter is generally higher than that of CNC. Therefore, CO2 acrylic laser cutting machine has more advantages in cutting complex anomalies, and CNC is selected for cutting acrylic sheets with simple shapes.

Q2. Can CO2 acrylic laser cutting machine be used to cut PVC?

A: Theoretically, it is not suggested is CO2 acrylic laser cutting machine adopts laser beam. Which generates high temperature and cause melting of the materials during cutting operations. Furthermore, PVC sheets will oxidize, causing discolorization of the cut surface, and affecting the appearance. Thus, acrylic CO2 laser cutter is not suggested to cut PVC sheets.
